Join a globally recognised leader in precision engineering and manufacturing, known for delivering high-quality mechanical components and solutions across a wide range of industries. Based in Western Sydney, this company prides itself on its innovation, hands-on team culture, and commitment to continuous improvement. Their modern facility is equipped with CNC machines, assembly lines, and cutting-edge technology, offering a dynamic environment for learning and growth.
About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production and Planning Assistant to join the mechanical production team. In this hands-on role, you’ll gain exposure across assembly, machining, planning, and production documentation — while contributing directly to daily manufacturing outcomes.
Reporting to the Production Manager, this is an ideal opportunity for someone with a mechanical background or engineering qualification who’s eager to build a long-term career in production management and supply/demand planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate daily production planning to ensure on-time delivery
- Create and maintain documentation for SOPs, maintenance registers, and continuous improvement records
- Generate shop packets and picking reports for production prep and job finalisation
- Raise requisitions for parts, consumables, and tooling, and follow up with purchasing
- Assist with LEAN projects to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain and organise preventative maintenance schedules on key production equipment
- Participate in inventory control and cycle counting activities
- Operate basic machines in the workshop when required
- Support mechanical assembly and product testing as needed
- Keep inventory organised in the CNC “Smart Cabinet” system
- Take on additional tasks as directed by the Production Manager
You’re a hands-on, mechanically minded individual who’s eager to learn and grow. Whether you’ve completed a trade or are pursuing an engineering degree, you bring:
- A trade qualification in fitting/machining or relevant engineering studies (mechanical or manufacturing)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- A proactive, “can-do” approach and willingness to work both independently and in a team
- A strong customer focus — both internally and externally
- Experience in a machine shop or assembly environment
- Understanding of LEAN principles or continuous improvement projects
- Previous involvement in documentation control or planning processes
- Join a collaborative team with a strong mentoring culture and technical expertise
- Build real skills in planning, production, and operational improvement
- Develop your career with potential progression into production management or supply chain planning
- Be part of a business where innovation, learning, and hands-on experience are genuinely supported
