The Company
This well-established Australian business is recognised as a leader within its industry, known for its strong reputation, innovative products and collaborative team culture. They are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the finance team on a 4-month temporary assignment to cover planned leave within the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a busy and supportive environment where you can add value from day one.

The Position
Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a key role supporting the day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes. Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with end-of-month close processes
  • General ledger reconciliations, journals and accruals
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of the fixed asset register
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Providing back-up support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS and GST reporting
  • Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting requirements
  • Assisting with process improvement and ensuring accuracy across financial data
The Candidate
To be successful in this role you will be a hands-on and adaptable accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You will bring:
  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
  • Degree qualifications in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion)
  • Strong understanding of Australian taxation, BAS/GST and financial compliance requirements
  • Strong systems and Microsoft Office capability, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A proactive and can-do attitude with the ability to learn quickly and support the wider team where needed
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously when required
