About the Company
This is a business that has been doing some heavy lifting of Australia's essential services industries for decades. The organisation keeps cities running but rarely seeks the spotlight. With a significant national footprint, a large and diverse customer base, and the backing of a Private Equity firm that is invested in growth, this is a company in the middle of a commercial evolution. They're building out their finance function to match their ambition and this role is a key part of that story.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, high-impact position sitting within a growing commercial finance team, reporting to the FP&A Manager. You'll be the go-to person for pricing analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and partnering with operational and sales leaders across a large, multi-region business. You'll be getting deep into the commercial detail; understanding what's driving margin, where pricing is at risk, and how to protect it. One of your first and most visible priorities will be designing and implementing a price variance analysis tool. Building it from scratch, rolling it out across the business, and making it genuinely useful for the stakeholders who need it most.
What You'll Be Doing
- Monthly price variance analysis; drilling down by region, customer, and product to identify where the margin story is being written
- Developing and maintaining rate cards to support the sales team and ensure gross margin is never compromised
- Budgeting and forecasting across a complex, multi-region commercial environment
- Designing and implementing an Excel-based price variance analysis tool from concept to rollout
- Preparing meaningful reporting packs for senior operational, sales, and other stakeholders
- Supporting tender pricing models and commercial growth initiatives
- Partnering with ops and sales leaders to challenge assumptions and influence decisions
What You'll Bring
- CA/CPA qualified ideally with solid FP&A or commercial finance experience
- Advanced Excel. Experience with large data sets, complex models, and the ability to build tools, not just use them
- A curious, analytical mind that doesn't stop at the number. You want to know the story behind it
- You can translate complex financials for non-finance stakeholders
- Maturity, patience, and commercial instinct in equal measure
- Experience in Logistics, transport or a similarly complex operational environment is a bonus
