The business is real. The growth is real. The problem is solvable.
A privately owned, founder-led franchise business with 25 sites across Australia has grown faster than its financial infrastructure. The model works. The market proved that with minimal marketing spend. But the back end hasn't kept pace and that needs to change.
This is a 6-month contract, 4 days a week, with a clear and well-scoped mandate. You'll be working directly with the founder to bring structure, discipline and clarity to a business that is ready for it.
What you'll actually be doing
Coming in to act as an advisor and partner to the founding owner your focus will span four key areas:
- Audit & Gap analysis. You'll take a clear-eyed look at what exists, what's missing, and what needs to be rebuilt. No assumptions. Just facts.
- Financial controls & systems implementation. You'll design and embed the processes and platforms the business needs to operate at scale.
- Collections and payment framework. A core part of this role is resolving how money moves through the business. Franchisee payment structures, investor reporting, cash flow visibility. You'll build the framework from the ground up.
- People and org road mapping. In parallel, you'll assess what the finance & operations function needs to look like long term and define the hiring plan to get there.
- Create a strategy framework
Who we're looking for
You have a senior finance background with CA, CPA quals and you've ideally worked in or around franchise businesses or small businesses navigating rapid growth. You know what good looks like and you know how to build it in an environment where it doesn't yet exist.
You're comfortable working directly with a founder, moving quickly, and making decisions with imperfect information. You've done it before and you understand that being a small business, you need to roll up your sleeves.
Importantly, you're available now. This role starts immediately.
The logistics
- Six-month contract, four days per week
- Up to $240,000 + super (FTE equivalent)
- Sydney or Canberra based.
- Sydney-based candidates will be required on-site in Canberra during the initial period and be open to monthly travel ongoing.
