If you're a procurement professional who enjoys getting behind the numbers, challenging suppliers, negotiating better commercial outcomes and finding smarter ways to secure supply, this could be a very interesting next move.
We're working with a well-established, global organisation within th e packaging and manufacturing sector to appoint a commercially minded Procurement Officer.
This is a hands-on procurement role with genuine commercial responsibility and exposure to a broad supplier network.
What you'll actually be doingYou'll work directly with suppliers to:
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, MOQs and commercial terms
  • Manage and develop key supplier relationships
  • Source new and alternative suppliers
  • Run supplier quotes, tenders and commercial reviews
  • Challenge and negotiate supplier price increases
  • Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, service and delivery
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks before they become problems
  • Work closely with Supply Planning, Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, Quality, Operations and Finance
  • Analyse supplier pricing, spend, performance and market movements
  • Support new business opportunities through competitive sourcing
  • Drive supplier improvement and corrective actions
  • Contribute to procurement projects, process improvement and ERP/data initiatives
In other words, you'll have genuine influence over what the business buys, who it buys it from and what it pays.

We're interested in procurement professionals who have already had exposure to commercial supplier management and negotiation.
You might currently be a:

We're looking for approximately 3–5 years' relevant experience, ideally gained within:
  • Procurement / purchasing
  • Manufacturing
  • Packaging
  • FMCG / consumer goods
  • Distribution / wholesale
  • Supply chain
  • Logistics
  • Another commercially focused supplier environment
You don't necessarily need packaging experience.
What's more important is that you can demonstrate:
✔ You've negotiated with suppliers — not just ordered from them
✔ You're comfortable challenging pricing and commercial terms
✔ You can build strong supplier relationships while still holding suppliers accountable
✔ You understand lead times, supply risk, quality and service
✔ You're commercially and analytically minded
✔ You're confident working with ERP systems and Excel
✔ You can manage multiple suppliers, projects and priorities
