Senior Payroll Officer – Standalone | Sutherland | 6-Month Contract (Potential to Extend)

The Company:

With a strong market reputation and a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence, this business is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to support the team during a critical period of change. Based in the Sutherland Shire, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a standalone role with full ownership of the payroll function.

The Role:

This role will suit an experienced Senior Payroll Officer who has previously managed a standalone payroll function and is available to commence immediately. You'll be responsible for the end-to-end administration and reconciliation of an outsourced payroll (ADP) for approximately 130 employees across multiple pay cycles, while managing all payroll changes, calculations and reporting in-house.

Payroll cycles include:
  • Weekly payroll (10 employees)
  • Fortnightly payroll (30 employees)
  • Monthly payroll (75 employees)
Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end payroll management for 130 employees across multiple pay cycles
  • Manage payroll changes, calculations and reconciliations prior to submission to ADP
  • Oversee time and attendance processes (Kronos or similar systems experience preferred)
  • Prepare and submit superannuation, PAYG and statutory payments
  • Manage payroll tax, STP reporting and compliance obligations
  • Reconcile payroll accounts including super, PAYG, payroll tax and leave accruals
  • Prepare payroll journals and assist with month-end reporting
  • Provide payroll analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and awards
The Candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a standalone environment
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance and statutory obligations
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers (ADP highly regarded)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations and large data sets
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Immediate availability and commitment to a 6-month contract
