An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the Australian finance function, working closely with local leadership and global finance stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to influence business performance, strengthen financial processes and drive continuous improvement.
The Position
Reporting to the local CEO and Global Finance leadership, you will oversee financial operations, provide commercial insights and ensure strong financial controls and compliance. You will lead a small finance team while partnering with the wider business to support informed decision-making and improve operational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, providing insights to support business decisions and profitability.
- Oversee monthly financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, operating expenditure and key performance indicators.
- Analyse financial results and budget variances, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, aged debtors and payment processes.
- Oversee tax compliance, statutory reporting and external audit requirements.
- Maintain robust financial controls, ensuring accurate and reliable reporting.
- Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team across accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes, improve reporting and strengthen internal controls.
- Partner with IT and key stakeholders on finance systems and process improvement initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with local management, global finance teams, auditors, banks and external advisers.
You are a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to see the bigger business picture. Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, you can translate financial information into meaningful insights and build strong relationships across the organisation.
Ideally, you will bring:
- CA/CPA qualification and experience in financial control or senior finance leadership.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution or a similar operational environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing a finance team.
- Experience working within an international group structure and liaising with overseas head office.
- A track record of improving processes, systems and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
- $160,000–$180,000 + superannuation.
- Eastern Creek location with on-site parking.
